Operation Encompass

As part of our commitment to student safety, our school proudly participates in Operation Encompass. This national initiative facilitates direct communication between police forces and schools to ensure children receive timely support following traumatic events.

How it Works

When Merseyside Police attend an incident involving domestic abuse or a missing person report where one of our pupils is present, they share key information with us before the start of the next school day. This allows us to provide immediate, sensitive care when the child arrives at school.

Our Commitment to Support

  • Designated Support: Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) serves as the "Key Adult" for this program. They are fully trained to handle confidential police notifications and coordinate necessary support.

  • Legal Recognition: Under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, children are now officially recognised as victims of domestic abuse in their own right, rather than just witnesses.

  • Confidentiality: All information is shared in strict confidence and used solely to better understand and support the well-being of the children in our care.

We believe that by working closely with the police, we can create a safer, more supportive environment where every pupil feels secure and understood.
